People are undependable!!!!!!

I had arranged to do an interview with the head bartender, brewmaster, and cook at Calapooia brewing for the past three days. This was supposed to lead to an interview with the owner in the immediate future as well. Well today was the day, 2:00 was the scheduled time, and guess what? I call to let the head bartender know that I'm on my way (after doing research and writing out questions for the second time this week) and he informs me that he's sent everyone home early. No sweat, I figure I can at least speak with him briefly and then return tomorrow. WRONG! He informs me that he's not up for doing anything today, gives me a litany of excuses, and tells me that, "Maybe sometime in a couple weeks we can do something." How do you go from making concrete plans to do something for someone over a three day period and then achieve this level of flakiness? This was my plan c and It's even fell through. I could've wrote this story four times over by now but I'm dependent on undependable people to acheive my goal. Now all I have is a bunch of facts with no live sources to go with them. Oh well, this is why I have a management degree to fall back on. It's a field where I actually have some control of my own destiny and can make things happen without having to depend on undependable people for my success. Good luck to all you Journalism students. I definitely feel your pain!

Calapooia Brewing

I plan on interviewing the owner of Calapooia brewing and seeing what he has to say about how the current economical situation has affected his business and his recipes. I also plan to speak with someone at the local chamber of commerce about how downtown businesses are doing in general. Hopefully my efforts will be more fruitful than in the past. Wish me luck!!!

Daily Energy is a no go!

Wow! I finally got a hold of the owner of Daily Energy and to my surprise he was very uninterested in helping a first time journalism student with an interview. I was very surprised by his behavior as he is usually very nice when I'm in the store. I'm assuming now that this is because I usually spend a good deal of money when I come in. No more! He just lost my respect and lost me and my girlfriend as customers. I'm not going to let this stop me as I already have another idea that I'm going to try and capitalize on tonight. You know what they say, if at first you fail-try, try again!

Going there today

I have tried to no avail to get a hold of the owner of Daily Energy. His weekend hours are very scarce. I'm going down there today in person to set up an interview time/and or interview him. I've already came up with some good questions for him and will start on some other research today. Some questions I've fabricated are:
What is the biggest health issue facing America in your opinion?
What is the simplest thing that most people could do to help their health?
What is the cheapest thing most people could do that would greatly benefit their overall health?
How has the hard economic times affected your business or ordering? Will you be doing anything different in the future to help combat this?
Where do you see your business headed in the future?

Daily Energy

I'm going to do a feature story about a local business in Albany named Daily Energy.
